On Friday, members of Catalonia's regional Parliament voted in favor of becoming independent from Spain. The vote tally was 70 in favor of the split, 10 against and two blanks. Catalonia's move for independence has heated up the political scene in Spain with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy attempting to stop the process by appealing to the Spanish Senate.
