Tottenham Hotspur face Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday, knowing that a victory could be enough to secure progress into the knock out rounds.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost to Manchester United at the weekend without their leading goalscorer Harry Kane, but he is expected to be fit to face the Spanish champions.

Comparisons have been made between Kane and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Tottenham defender, Jan Vertonghen said: ‘‘They’re both unbelievable players. Ronaldo has his qualities and Harry has his. We have to show respect to Ronaldo for everything that he’s won over the years, and that he is still doing it, and the level he is still playing. It is hard to compete because they are a different type of player but Harry for me is one of the best strikers in Europe, maybe the best, and he has shown that every week”.

Elsewhere in Group H, Borrusia Dortmund take on Apoel Nicosia knowing a win is vital is they are to progress to the next round.

Liverpool face Maribor at Anfield just two weeks after the ‘Reds’ beat the Slovenian side 7-0 while Group E table toppers Spartak Moscow take on Sevilla.

Manchester City have won all three of their group games but they face the difficult task of taking on Napoli while Feyenoord play Shakhtar Donetsk.

Besiktas will qualify for the last 16 with a victory over Monaco while 2004 Champions League winners, FC Porto face Red Bull Leipzig.
