Just because I LP a game, doesnt mean I wont at some point get round to recording a boss run. I fairly enjoyed my blind run of Castle of Illusion, so I gave it another shot. Its a fairly neat, if easy game. The final boss is pretty annoying though.\r
\r
General Notes:\r
a) This is being played on Hard mode. Basically, say goodbye to projectiles. You also start off with less health (turning the game into Ghouls and Ghosts, haha), theres more enemies and even some of the platforms seem to have been removed. Also, is it just me or do the first two bosses have more health?\r
b) Bosses otherwise generally seem unaffected by the difficulty.\r
\r
Boss Notes:\r
(names completely made up)\r
Faceless Tree:\r
Has harder to dodge acorn patterns than normal mode. \r
Its easier to fight him by standing besides the tree. This also makes his rolling attack easier to dodge.\r
It is entirely possible for the boss to spawn every single acorn at once, in which case you have to stand between one of them to dodge it. Its hard to do, but can be done. Thankfully this is an extremely rare attack.\r
\r
Jack:\r
This guy is an asshole. The Insta-Punches he likes to pull off can really throw you. Basically.. keep ducking. Thankfully he has a set jumping pattern, so its fairly easy to find a safespot and stay there.\r
He has ALOT of health. Its also fairly easy to miss his head and fall into his body. As I said, this guy is an asshole.\r
\r
Gremlin Totem:\r
Weird boss. Also fairly easy on normal difficulty, as you can stand directly by the totem pole and throw marbles just before they land. On hard mode, you dont GET any marbles, but by standing where I stand and jumping as each one spawns allows you to nail each Gremlin before they can pull off any attacks.\r
\r
Petes Dragon:\r
This is probably the most predictable boss in the game. He spawns in each hole, in that ex pattern, every time. So.. yeah. Memorize his pattern and hell die very quickly. The hard part is timing yourself so you dont jump too early or too late. Oh and dont miss his head. If you happen to do that, youll probably take damage.. and on hard mode, you dont have the hitpoints to do that.\r
\r
Quasimodo:\r
I have no idea why I found this guy so hard in the Lets Play. Hes simple, predictable and. I dont know. I guess you have to be pretty ex with your timing. His hitbox is also really hard to land on, and his sprite doesnt seem to be centered correctly, so if he turns round, he can hit you for apparently no reason what-so-ever. Strange.\r
\r
Mizrabel:\r
Fairly tough final boss. (Not MMX5 Sigma hard of course, but for a Mickey Mouse game, shes a toughie.) Hitting her on the bottom is easy - its the rest of her spawn spots thats difficult. I have no idea how to hit her up top without taking damage, but on the sides, it turns out you can Ride fireballs, which gives you that extra distance to hit her from the other side of the arena.\r
\r
What-ever you do, dont get Stuck in the middle of her fireball shield. as it is entirely possible to ride the fireballs off screen. This, being a video game, is a insta-kill. Naturally.\r
Like with Quasimodo her hit box is fairly small for her head - missing it will result in damage.\r
\r
Ive found the only real way to dodge her at the top is to stand off center on the top set of platforms, otherwise there isnt the time to move out of the way. That said - she didnt spawn up top once during this battle, so it was over quicker than usual.
