Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest cricketer in the world to reach 300 wicket mark in test matches breaking the record set by Australian bowler Dennis Lillee. While Lillee had achieved the feat in 56 matches, Ashwin did it in his 54th match. With this, Ashwin also completed 50 Test wickets in 2017 calendar year. By doing so, he also became the first Indian and third overall bowler to take 50 Test wickets in three consecutive years with Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan being other two.
