Slow Cooker Pizza Pasta

Ingredients:
1 lb (500g) mild Italian sausage meat
2 tsp (10 mL) dried oregano
1 tsp (5 mL) extra virgin olive oil
1/4 tsp (1 mL) hot pepper flakes
1 large red onion, chopped
1 green or yellow bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 container (8 oz/227 g) petite/gourmet button mushrooms
2 cups (500 mL) pizza sauce
2 cups (500 mL) water
2 cups (500 mL) rotini pasta
1/2 cup (125 mL) shredded part skim mozzarella cheese
2 Tbsp (30 mL) grated Parmesan cheese

Method:
Brown sausage in a nonstick skillet with oregano, oil and hot pepper flakes over medium high heat and place in slow cooker.

Stir in onion, pepper, garlic, mushrooms, pizza sauce and water.
Cover and cook on Low for 4 or on High for 2 hours.

Uncover and stir in pasta; cover and cook on High for 20 minutes or until pasta is tender.

Sprinkle with cheeses; cover and let stand for 10 minutes for cheese to melt.
Stir to combine before serving.

Prep Time: 20 Minutes, cook time: 4 Hours
