There has always been a degree of separation between the tastes of the aristocracy & the masses. And despite the changes in social structure, there still seems to endure a gap that distinguishes the knight in shining armor from the commoner. And it is quite apparent from the chasm that exists today between Popular Art & what are called the Classics or Immortal Art. And it exists in all forms of artistic expression whether it is abstract art or landscape paintings, contemporary wall art or acrylic painting. Art for sale has become a phrase which evokes sentiments of income disparity & social status. While it isn't as intense as the haves & have's not discussion, the connotations remain.
