Matt Lauer has already started on the path to make things right… as he releases a statement in the wake of his firing.
His former co-hosts read his statement live on air of the Today Show, where he apologized, asked for forgiveness and admitted there was enough truth in the claims made against him.
He said there are no words to express his sorrow and regret for the pain he has caused, and to the people he had hurt, he is truly sorry.
He called the last two days ‘humbling’ and he regrets that his shame is now shared by the people he cherished dearly.
So far, three women have come forward and filed complaints with NBC over the alleged harassment they endured at the hands of Lauer.
Matt says that repairing the damage he caused will take a lot of time and soul searching, but he claims it is now his full-time job.
