IOC Bans Russia
From 2018 Winter Olympics
Over Doping Scandal The International Olympic Committee brought the hammer down on Russia completely banning the country from competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The ban is a result of the Russia's "unprecedented" doping scandal that has seen over two dozen athletes receive bans from competing. The decision also comes after the IOC's 16-month investigation into Russia's doping and cheating at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. Many of the same athletes also had medals retroactively removed from their 2014 Sochi Games competition as part of IOC sanctions. The 2018 Winter Olympics
take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
