BNM raises policy rate to 3.25%

Bank Negara Malaysia has raised its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.25 per cent, its first hike since May 2011 reflecting elevated inflation and the Malaysian economy's firm growth prospects. Yesterday, BNM said inflation has been relatively stable as the effects of the price adjustments for utilities and energy continue to moderate.
