NSW Police released footage of specialist officers training in the use of Colt M4 semi-automatic rifles on Monday, December 18, as the last week before Christmas began.
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said 47 officers from the Public Order and Riot Squad would be seen “on occasion” carrying the weapons, which will provide them with greater support during “high-risk incidents”.
“In the current environment, we recognise the need to be both proactive and responsive and to dispatch tactical police from multiple locations to where they are needed,” NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said. “I don’t want the public to feel confronted, but I want them not only be safe, but to also feel safe.” Credit: NSW Police Force via Storyful
