A number of people were reportedly arrested amid protests by hundreds of people in Mashhad, Iran, on December 28.
The BBC reported the Mashhad governor as saying police had reacted to an “illegal” protest “with tolerance.”
Radio Farda cited the same official, Mohammad Rahim Norouzian, as indicating the protests were over high prices.
RFE reported some of the footage posted online showed crowds chanting, “death to Rouhani,” and “death to the dictator.” Credit: Instagram/areff_m via Storyful
