Social Justice Activist Erica Garner Dies at 27 Garner is the eldest daughter of Eric Garner, the man who died from a police choke hold in 2014. Garner was a prominent member of the Black Lives Matter movement after her father's death. Garner was in a coma since December 23, after she suffered a heart attack. The heart attack was reportedly triggered by an asthma attack.
