Storm Eleanor hit Galway, Ireland, on January 2, causing major flooding.

More than 50,000 people in western Ireland were without power, according to the BBC. Met Éireann, Ireland’s national meteorological service, issued a Status Orange weather alert for exceptionally high seas, coastal damage and flooding.
