A ferry carrying 61 passengers and nine crew members ran aground in the Azores, Portugal, on January 6, officials said.

A regional government statement said the Mestre Simão ship ran aground in the port of Madalena, on the island of Pico. It said all passengers were evacuated and that no injuries were reported.
