Walmart to shutter some of its Sam's Club locations Media reports peg the number at somewhere around 63, with at least 50 going out of business for good. According to Business Insider, the other 13 may be converted into ecommerce distribution centers. Around 10 locations will close as early as today. Walmart didn't name the specific locations where closures will take place. The news comes as Walmart recently announced that it would raise their minimum wage to $11 and award bonuses of up to $1,000 to select employees. "After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy. Closing clubs is never easy and we’re committed to working with impacted members and associates through this transition."
