Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has apologized for the 2014 police shooting death of Laquan McDonald, but protesters still want his resignation. In a rally on Wednesday, demonstrators called for Cook Count State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, who has come under intense scrutiny for her office's role in the investigation, to step down as well. Protesters have turned out in masses since the release of the video showing former Chicago Police officer Jason Van Dyke shooting McDonald 16 times, several of those while McDonald was on the ground. Protesters also blocked storefronts along the popular Michigan Avenue shopping district on Black Friday, causing some businesses to report sales numbers as much as 25-to-50 percent lower than expected.
