Scotland was blanketed by heavy snow, up to a foot deep in some areas, on January 17, causing widespread disruption throughout the county.

The snow was no match for Sandy Bell, however. She was up before sunrise clearing paths and stacking logs outside her parents’ house in Newtown St Boswells.
