Flooding and routine maintenance work were two possible reasons why an increased number of rats have been seen on the streets of Paris this January, Le Parisien reported.

This video shows a number of rodents outside Notre Dame Cathedral on Monday, January 22, as water levels on the Seine continued to rise.

Meteo France, the national weather agency, said an orange alert for flooding remained in place for Paris and number of other areas on Wednesday. Credit: Basile Ducournau/cieuxsoustension.com via Storyful
