Whale watchers were treated to a dramatic sight off Bremer Bay, Western Australia, recently, when they witnessed several pods of killer whales pursuing and consuming their prey.
Kirsty Alexander, a marine biologist with Naturaliste Charters, told the ABC that three pods totaling about 30 killer whales were involved in the pursuit, on January 19, of what she thought was a species of beaked whale.
