President Moon Jae-in has joined the growing number of supporters of the "MeToo" movement... pledging to use all available means to stamp out sexual harrassment in Korea.
In a meeting with his top aides on Monday... the president expressed respect to the victims who spoke up against powerful figures involved in the cases... and urged thorough investigations.
"Gender-based violence can be uprooted only when culture and views change in society which is why I call for a wider MeToo movement across the nation."
South Korea has seen the MeToo movement spread from the cultural to academic sector in recent weeks... with many women coming forward, accusing high-profile men in art, entertainment, literature and religion of sexual misconduct.
