Canon's new flash unit makes flash photography idiot-proof. The 470EX-AI uses a laser to scan the subject and ceiling in the room, measure distance, and then calculate the brightness and direction of the flash to give you the perfect shot.

It isn't the perfect smart flash, but it's the first full size flash to automatically bounce the light, and it's pretty slick. BONUS: It maintains the flash even if you move or tilt the camera the flash unit moves and will seek out the original angle. Expect it to go for $400, so you'll definitely be paying a premium to not bother how to bounce your flash.
