A US district judge has rejected a bid from California for a pretrial injunction.
The request from California sought to force the federal government to fund a law enforcement grant.
But U.S. District Judge William Orrick ruled that the $1 million grant was too small to justify an injunction while a lawsuit is unfolding.
Judge Orrick cited the state's overall budget in his ruling.
