A fire that ripped through a a residential area in Las Pinas City, on Wednesday, March 14, destroyed over 500 homes and left about 1,000 families homeless.
The fire, which broke out in the Laong Compound in the city’s Barangay Almanza, spread due to fierce winds, a lack of fire hydrants and narrow alleyways, which delayed the response from firefighters, The Philippine Star reported.
At least one person was killed, with property damage estimated to be around 1.5 million Phillipine Pisos, or $29,000 USD, after 575 houses were destroyed.
