A dark shelf cloud loomed over the sea near Darwin, Northern Territory, on Friday, March 16, as authorities warned residents to prepare for Cyclone Marcus.

The cyclone was expected to pass through the Tiwi Islands and briefly over Darwin in the coming days, the NT News reported.
