Lingayat and Mutt politics seem to be the order of the day in Karnataka. With both the Congress and BJP doing their best to woo the voters. Although, Congress faces rebellion over the lingayat issue with at least 60 members of the Veerashaiva Mahasabha opposing the government's decision and leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa hinting at joining the BJP. The grand old party seems to unnerved. Congress President Rahul Gandhi who is in Karnataka has taken the campaign forward with visiting temple mutts in the state. Meanwhile, BJP President Amit Shah is also expected to visit Dalit and lingayat mutts on March 26 and March 27 in a bid to break Siddaramaiah's vote bank. As lingayat debate rages, it has been learnt that the centre may not give its approval for a separate religion tag. Even in 2013 to a similar proposal was turned down.
