The Earth's climate has changed throughout history. Just in the past 650,000 years there have now been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat, with all the abrupt end of the last ice age roughly 7,000 years ago marking the start of the modern climate -- -- and of human civilization. The majority of the climate changes have been credited to very tiny variations in the planet's orbit that affect the quantity of solar technology our earth receives.
