The daughter of a former Russian spy, both of whom were poisoned by a nerve agent in England last month, has spoken out for the first time since regaining consciousness over a week ago.
London police released a statement on Yulia Skripal's behalf on Thursday, in which she was quoted as saying her "strength is growing daily."
She said she was grateful for the many messages of goodwill she had received and also thanked those who came to her aid.
She added that the whole ordeal has been "somewhat disorientating," and asked the public to respect the privacy of her and her family.
Her father, Sergei Skripal, remains in critical condition.
The poisoning has led to a spiraling diplomatic dispute between the UK and Russia, with Moscow repeatedly denying London's accusation that the Kremlin was behind the attack.
