So the leaders of the two Koreas will be meet at the truce village of Panmunjom on the *southern side of the border on April 27th.
This is also when Kim Jong-un will become the first North Korean leader to ever step on South Korean soil.
But with the last summit happening more than a decade ago,... do Seoul and Pyongyang finally have a golden chance to make these exchanges more regular?
Our Lee Seung-jae takes a look.
The truce village of Panmunjom,... located some 60 kilometers north of Seoul is set to greet a very important guest at the end of the month,... as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will take the unprecedented step of crossing the border for the 2018 Inter-Korean summit.
Panmunjom, a site that symbolizes the division of the two Koreas,... will soon be a historic venue for reconciliation,... as President Moon Jae-in and Kim will gather there on April 27th.
Panmunjom is also where the Korean War Armistice Agreement was signed in 1953,... ending the fighting, but leaving the two Koreas technically in a state of war to this day.
With the two previous inter-Korean summits in 2000 and 2007 being held in Pyongyang,... many hope the Panmunjom summit will finally bring lasting peace to the Korean Peninsula.
And the South Korean government hopes the first inter-Korean summit on the South's side won't be the last.
Officials say they want it to be the first of many summits to happen in Panmunjom,... until the two Koreas finally unify once again.
With that in mind,... the South has already started to renovate the Peace House at Panmunjom to greet North Korean delegates ahead of the inter-Korean summit,... leading up to the meeting between the two leaders.
Koreans from all four corners of the peninsula hope that Panmunjom -- for so long a symbol of division -- may become a symbol of peace as the regular meeting place for the leaders of the two Koreas.
