3 Idiots
One of the biggest grossing movies of the Indian film industry ‘3 Idiots’ was rejected by Shah Rukh Khan. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani offered the film first to King Khan, but after his rejection the proposal went to Aamir Khan. After the blockcuster, now the Hirani-Aamir duo is set to release their films all the time.
Lagaan
Ashutosh Gowariker first offered Lagaan to Aamir, who originally didn’t wish to produce the movie, he then went to Shah Rukh, who wasn’t too keen either. Mr. Gowariker then convinced Mr. Perfectionist and the rest as they say, is history. The film remains the only Oscar nominated Hindi movie in the last 20 years.
Rang De Basanti
Again Shah Rukh Khan’s rejected film "Rang De Basanti" which became a blockbuster went to Aamir Khan. As they say, one’s loss is another’s gain - Is it just us or is everyone beginning to notice a pattern here? This guy has always missed out on a few movies, which went onto become a super duper hit.

Yeah…the film that stars Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, was initially scheduled to star Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan. Nonetheless, after PeeCee Darling turned down the role and the makers failed to find any other suitable female lead opposite Khan, the movie landed with Arjun and Alia’s pad. And guess what – the two gave marvelous performance in the movie.
Taare Zameen Par
Now it’s time for Shah Rukh’s sitaare zameen par! One of the best movies of Aamir Khan got a lot of appreciations. The director’s first choice was Shah Rukh, but the drama film didn’t impress the actor, which made him reject the movie. Later the role was performed gracefully by Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist.
Slumdog Millionaire
One of the Oscar nominated films in the industry Slumdog Millionaire was rejected by Shah Rukh Khan. Danny Boyle and Loveleen Tandan offered the movie first to King Khan but after his rejection, the proposal went to Anil Kapoor. Millionaire he may be, but Shah Rukh surely missed out on his chance at Hollywood glory by rejecting this widely acclaimed movie.
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai
Shah Rukh Khan was Rakesh Roshan’s first choice for Kaho Naa Pyaar Hau, after Koyla failed at the Box Office. When things didn’t work out, Rakesh decided to cast his son Hrithik Roshan as the main lead. The film went on to create history at the Box Office and won several awards. Most notably, Duggu also won every Best Actor award that year. Nice!
