Nintendo President Retires, Names Shuntaro Furukawa as Replacement Tatsumi Kimishima announced that he is retiring from the role of president so the company can have younger management. Kimishima, who has been Nintendo’s president since 2015, will be replaced by Shuntaro Furukawa. 46-year-old Furukawa joined the company in 1994, rising up the ranks to serve on the board the Pokemon Company in 2012. The timing of Kimishima's retirement comes as Nintendo’s revenue is skyrocketing following the success of the wildly popular Nintendo Switch. Nintendo recently revealed that it sold more than 15 million Switch in its 2017 fiscal year.
