மதுரையில் சித்திரை திருவிழாவை ஒட்டி மீனாட்சியம்மன் திருக்கோயிலில் தேரோட்டம் இன்று கோலாகலமாக தொடங்கியது. இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் ஏராளமான பக்தர்கள் பங்கேற்று தேரை வடம் பிடித்து இழுத்தனர். உலக பிரசித்திபெற்ற மதுரை மீனாட்சியம்மன் திருக்கோவில் சித்திரை திருவிழா ஏப்ரல் 18ம் தேதி கொடியேற்றத்துடன் தொடங்கியது. அன்றுமுதல் தினந்தோறும் சுந்தரேஸ்வரரும் - மீனாட்சி அம்மனும் மாசி வீதிகளில் உலா வந்து பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள் பாலித்தனர். இந்த திருவிழாவில் முக்கிய நிகழ்வான மீனாட்சிக்கு பாட்டாபிஷேகம் கடந்த 25ம் தேதியும், திக்விஜய நிகழ்ச்சி 26ம் தேதியும் நடைபெற்றது.
