According to defense officials, a Russian Su-27 fighter jet 'unprofessionally' intercepted a US Navy P-8 surveillance plane over the Baltic Sea Tuesday. An official explained that the Russian jet came within about 20 feet of the US aircraft and that the encounter lasted about nine minutes. The intercept has since been described as "safe but unprofessional." Back in January this year, a similar situation occurred when a Russian Su-27 jet flew within five feet of a US Navy EP-3 aircraft.
