John Kerry has been working behind the scenes to save the Iran nuclear deal, reports the Boston Globe.

John Kerry is reportedly working behind the scenes to salvage the Iran nuclear deal which he helped shepherd during his time as Secretary of State under the Obama administration.
According to the Boston Globe, which broke the story Friday, "Kerry has been on an aggressive yet stealthy mission to preserve [the pact], using his deep lists of contacts...to try to apply pressure on the Trump administration from the outside."
Such contacts are said to include Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and French President Emmanuel Macron--all of whom Kerry has reportedly met with to discuss the deal.
However, the piece contends that these moves are being made under the radar because Kerry "and his allies believe a high-profile defense of the deal by prominent Democrats would only backfire and provoke Trump, making it more likely the president would pull the United States out of the deal."
That said, Kerry has been more vocal on social media.
"Every detail [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu presented yesterday was every reason the world came together to apply years of sanctions and negotiate the Iran nuclear agreement - because the threat was real and had to be stopped. It's working! That's why Israeli security experts are speaking out," he tweeted on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the New York Times recently noted, "Trump has threatened to scrap the deal as soon as May 12, if Britain, France and Germany do not agree to wholesale changes."
