Concerns are rising that Hawaii's Big Island could soon be hit by more destructive lava flows.
The oozing magma from the (Keyla-wayah)Kilauea volcano has already destroyed dozens of homes and forced thousands to evacuate.
Scientists say 15 large cracks or fissures have opened on the eastern flank of the volcano since it erupted just over a week ago.
Residents have been warned that they could have little or no time to evacuate in the event of future eruptions.
