A black real estate investor inspecting a property in a Memphis, Tennessee, neighborhood said he felt threatened after a white woman yelled obscenities and called the police on him on May 5.
Michael Hayes said the woman yelled at him and told him he had “no right” to be there. The police came and confirmed that Hayes was well within his rights and possessed the necessary paperwork to enter the home and inspect it.
In these videos, Hayes is seen talking to police and the police talk to the woman, who insists that Hayes “hurry up.” The police say he can take as much time as he likes.
“If you try to do anything to stop him I’m going to take you to jail,” said the male officer to the woman. Credit: Michael Hayes via Storyful
