The Church was founded in 1233 and is dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria. It belonged to one of Sweden's first Franciscan monasteries and the friars were mendicant order. Saint Katarina (St Catherine's) church, with the gothic interior, is rated the most beautiful of all the ruins of Visby.
