In a big victory for the people of tuticorin, the Madras High Court has stayed the sterlite plant expansion in tuticorin. The court has directed vedanta to stop the construction of the second unit of the plant. The construction has been put on hold till the centre decides on it. Earlier, 11 people had died after cops opened fire on anti-sterlite protestors in Tamil Nadu.
