The top female police officer in Afghanistan's Helmand province was shot and injured by unknown gunmen on Sunday (September 15), just months after her predecessor was killed in early July.

It was reported that the officer was shot when walking near the police headquarters in Lashkar Gah by two gunmen on a motorbike. She was shot in the neck. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. —
