South Korean soldiers on the border shot and killed a man believed to be illegally crossing into North Korea.
Officials at South Korea's Defense Ministry said that the man, identified as Nam Young-ho, ignored warnings to return to the South after guards caught him trying to scale a border fence. After he was told to go back, he found a section of the Imjin River, which runs along the border.
The incident occurred near the western portion of the border in Paju, north of Seoul. — Reuters
