Passengers were rescued from a powerboat that sunk in the open ocean about 18 nautical miles off the Gold Coast on May 30.
Gold Coast Bulletin reported the four men, in their 30s and 40s, were out for a day of fishing when powerful waves swept over the vessel, filling it with water. A distress call was sent out around 1.45 pm, and the men were treading water for 30 minutes before water police and rescue helicopters arrived.
The men were collected and appeared to have no injuries, save for mild hypothermia, Queensland Police said. Credit: Queensland Police via Storyful
