Former House Speaker John Boehner suggested on Thursday that First Lady Melania Trump appears unhappy because she’d been assured that Donald Trump wouldn't win.

Former House Speaker John Boehner suggested on Thursday that Melania Trump often appears unhappy because she'd been assured that she'd never have to fill her current role, reports the Daily Mail.  Speaking at an event in Michigan, Boehner commented, "I think Donald Trump promised Melania that he would not win, [that] she didn't have to worry about ever living in the White House." "It's probably why she doesn't look real happy every day – well, maybe one reason," he continued.  Boehner's comments come as many wonder where the first lady has been for the past weeks.  According to CNN, her last public appearance was on May 10 when she joined the president at Joint Base Andrews to welcome home hostages who had been detained in North Korea.  Days later, the communications office for the first lady announced that she had undergone a procedure for a benign kidney issue and was recuperating. 
Amid growing speculation about her extended absence, Melania Trump tweeted Wednesday that she is, "feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!"
