Rosie & the Riveters want sexual violence survivors to know “I believe you.”

“Even over a year ago when we wrote the song, instances of sexual harassment and sexual assault were already coming to the surface, and this was before of course #Metoo took flight. And when we wrote it, we thought, it’s kind of sad how often we hear about it.” Alexis Mormand, one of the band’s members, stated. “It once again kind of shows the resonance of the message and how powerful music can be to really connect with people and validate their experiences.”

Their recent album “Ms. Behave” explores issues that women confront every day. It’s available in time for Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April and proceeds from “I Believe You” go toward organizations that support survivors of assault.

“When you see a piece of art or experience a song, you feel potentially empathy or you are called back to your own experience. And so, it moves it from this very heady experience to the heart to the body and then it’s a moment that you internalize and keep forever and then it’s a moment that you that you internalize and keep forever.” Farideh Olsen, another member, stated.
