The June 12th Sentosa Agreement will go down history as an event that brought down the last remaining remnants of the Cold War.
That's according to President Moon Jae-in, who called it a beginning, and vowed to work together with North Korea and the U.S. to ensure the agreement is fully implemented.
Our chief Cheongwadae correspondent Moon Connyoung has more on how the liberal leader positively rated the result of the summit. As images of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump exchanging the first handshake covered the television screens for what local media billed as the "talks of the century," South Korean President Moon Jae-in smiled and applauded alongside his cabinet ministers as they watched live-streamed scenes from the summit at the presidential Blue House.

Following the end of the landmark summit, the South Korean president who has championed the summit and often acted as a mediator between his U.S. and North Korean counterparts praised the two leaders' courage and resolve for taking a daring step towards change.

"The President said the June 12 Sentosa Agreement will be recorded as a historic event that has helped break down the last remaining Cold War legacy on earth.
It is a great victory achieved by both the United States and the two Koreas, and a huge step forward for people across the world who long for peace."

Then, he vowed to build upon the agreement reached on this day and take a new path going forward. Those remarks by the South Korean president who has brokered the talks between Kim and Trump are an apparent show of his role from here on forth.

"This is just the beginning and there may be many difficulties ahead. But we will never go back to the past and never give up on this bold journey. My administration will spare no effort in cooperating with the U.S., North Korea and the international community to ensure that the agreement can be implemented in its entirety."
