England’s Chester Zoo is welcoming a new addition – a one-year-old red panda named Koda.
The zoo announced its newest resident on June 25, saying the panda came from a zoo in Cornwallto mate with the resident female red panda, Nima. “The duo were found to be genetically compatible as part of a breeding programme to boost numbers of the endangered species,” the zoo said in a press release.
