The Grammys Increase Number
of Nominees and Chance
for Inclusivity After much backlash and controversy, the Grammys are increasing their number of nominations from five to eight. During the time of #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, the Grammys let many down with their underrepresentation of women. Only 11 out of 84 women won awards
this year. The change is set to happen immediately with the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019 for record, song, and album of the year, as well as best new artist. Many hope this will lead to a more inclusive group of candidates.
