A woman whose leg was badly cut when she fell between a platform and a train at a station in Boston on June 29 asked other commuters not to call an ambulance because she could not afford to pay the medical fees, according to a reporter at the scene.
Police released footage of the incident, which they said occurred as the woman stepped off the train on the Orange Line at the Massachusetts Avenue Station shortly after 5.30 pm on Friday.
Police said the woman’s left leg fell between the platform and train and it became further lodged after other customers pushed to exit the train. Customers helped to free the woman by rocking the train back and forth.
Police said the woman sustained a serious laceration to her thigh and was transported to Boston Medical Center.
The Boston Globe reported that one of its reporters, Maria Cramer, witnessed the aftermath of the incident.
She tweeted from the scene that the woman, who was in agony, begged other commuters not to call and ambulance because she could not afford to cover the costs. Credit: Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Police via Storyful
