The Hogan Fire in Nevada’s Pequop Mountains grew to 2,000-acres in three days and was just five-percent contained by July 3, officials said.
This timelapse video, taken from Spruce Mountain by the Nevada Seismological Lab on July 2, shows dense plumes of smoke rising from the blaze.
The fire reportedly started 25 miles southeast of Wells, Nevada, on the evening of July 1. Officials expected the fire to grow another 1,000 acres before it would be contained.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
