Lyft Enters Bike-Sharing Business Lyft Bikes is happening for our short-trip needs. The company is buying bike-share operator Motivate. Motivate is the largest provider of bike-sharing services in the U.S. According to media reports, Lyft will pay around $250 million for the deal. Lyft said Motivate will remain a standalone business and continue to support bike-share systems across North America. The announcement comes after Uber’s purchase of JUMP Bikes in April. Lyft and Uber operate in roughly the same number of U.S. cities, in addition to Toronto, Canada. However, Uber operates across parts of the globe.
