South Korea's top office revealed on Tuesday that President Moon Jae-in has ordered an independent investigation team be set up to look into allegations the previous administration was considering a military crackdown against the peaceful protests calling for the ouster of former President Park Geun-hye.
Take a look.

"President Moon has ordered Defense Minister Song Young-moo to form an independent probe team to swiftly and fairly investigate allegations the Defense Security Command drew up a document that proposed the possibility of declaring martial law."

The spokesperson said the allegations had to be investigated after reports emerged that the top military unit had suggested an armed military crackdown on the peaceful candlelight vigils that sprouted up across the country calling for Park's removal from office.
The team will consist of military prosecutors, but none with an Army background or any links to the Defense Security Command.
They will probe the matter independently of the defense minister.
Citing the urgency and seriousness of the situation,... the spokesperson said the president reached the decision after hastily-arranged consultations with his cabinet in New Delhi on Monday evening.
