The CBSE has been asked to award 196 compensatory marks to those who took the national medical entrance test, NEET, in Tamil this year. The Madras High Court on Tuesday ruled Tamil translation of 49 questions was incorrect. Each question carried four marks, so all affected candidates will get 196 bonus marks. The court also ordered the CBSE to revise the rank list and begin admissions. The ruling came on a PIL by the Communist Party of India-Marxist MP TK Rangarajan. He argued the keywords in the questions were wrongly translated and caused great confusion.
